Hello Ms.Cathie Jung, Thank you so much for taking time to write. It is nice to know that people appreciate the efforts. Cathie Your website is realy fantastic, I needed two hours to enjoy the wonderful photos. Dear Cathie I trust this finds you well. I am a corset fan and only started to wear my first corset one year ago. I started with a corset of 22" and now I am 18". Being Chinese myself, I have a feeling that Chinese women would love to try corsets as a solution to achieve their dream S figure. Accidentally I noticed you have travelled to Beijing and appeared in a TV show in 2006. I would like to learn what's the general reaction of Chinese towards your fantastic 15" waist and the concept of corsetry. I would be grateful if you could share some of your Beijing experience with me. I look forward to hearing from you soon Best regards. Thank you for taking time to write. Our trip to Beijing was very worthwhile. We were most fortunate to have a wonderful young woman who is a translator for CCTV and speaks fluent English as a guide for us. She took us to see all the sights and on a tour to the Great Wall which stopped at a pharmacy as well as The Jade Factory. She gave us quite a history lesson as well and took us to the very famous "duck" restaurant. As it was December I had a coat on during our tours so it was not possible to get reactions. The young waitresses in the restaurant were quite taken with the small waist and we took many pictures with them which they appreciated. What are you doing in England? And who has made your corsets? I look forward to hearing from you again. Cathie First, may I say that I admire your figure, your dedication to tight lacing and the self-discipline that you must need to keep it up. It's also wonderful to see a woman beyond her twenties who looks as stunning as you do and more importantly, a woman who is obviously enjoying life to the max! Over the last few months I've been wearing my moderately comfortable, off-the-rack corset all day everyday. I'd like to keep this up. I'm prepared to buy a custom-made corset. However, the fact that I live in Australia poses a few problems. It gets very, very hot here during summer. Do you have any strategies to keep reasonably cool during summer in your corsets? For example, do you know of any fabrics that are strong enough for tight lacing and also let your skin breathe? Further, and I know this is unlikely but there's no harm in asking - do you know anyone who I could approach to make me a custom corset in Sydney Australia? I've done so much research and found no one. Once again, I'm so impressed by your tight lacing! Keep it up. Cotton or cotton brocade with a cotton lining. There also is a fabric which is designed for "summer corsets" but I don't have any myself. I don't know of anyone in Australia, but can advise you regarding someone here in the States or in Europe. Some may be willing to make you a muslin first which you can fit and photograph on yourself and then send back. Get back to me if you want further suggestions. You should find a custom made corset infinitely better and far more comfortable. Cathie Dear Cathie I hope you are well! a friend of mine, who-knows i am a: "follower of the-'Hourglass Ladies fashion', saved an article about-you which was in the [British] Newspaper-"The Sun" on page 21 on Saturday 25th august last. [and,if you would like a copy of this one page article, then i can e-mail it to you, of course.] in the article in "The Sun", they also mention-Mrs Ethel Granger and say that-she had "a-thirteen inch waist", after corset lacing. thet also say that she died in-1974. i believe that this is-wrong and i do believe that she died, aged 76, in February-1982!!! it seems that these "modern folk" are not too good at getting their facts right about matters which-are-important! [and, i believe that "Polaire" [or-"Emilie Marie Bouchard"] also had a 13 inch waist. she died i believe in 1939. and of course-Her Majesty Catherine de Medici [1519-1589] also had a 13 inch waist too ["33 centuimetres"] she actually issued-Decree saying that "all her Ladies-in Waiting-must have-tiny waists"!!! what a Royal Court that must have been!!! and, i-shouldn't think that HM Catherine could possibly have had her two "floating ribs" surgically removed, considering the state of Medicine in the-16th Century! but possibly Polaire and Ethel Granger-did have this operation? though i don't know this, one way or the other. and-you once e-mailed me to say that-you had-not had this operation-yourself, either. IF you-did have it then, possibly-you could, eventually reduce down to a-new all time World record of, say, twelve and a half inches or even less?! but thirteen incehes is-approaching the minimum possibility i think, at least for a Century or more, when there will be new techniques for possibly even smaller waists? Thanks for your note. I have received a copy of the article but do appreciate your thoughtfulness. Cathie |
