CATHIE JUNG - Scrimshaw

These are classic examples of scrimshaw done by mates on whaling ships to pass the time.  Whaling ships were at sea for three
years or more and as a past time the mates would do this elaborate scrimshaw to bring home to their loved ones who waited. 
As you can see the images portrayed woman of the Victorian era or patriotic themes.
